ecancer wins at Digital Media Awards


ecancermedicalscience, the online journal from the European Institute of Oncology has won The best online educational tool for healthcare professionals: category at the PM Digital Media Awards.

The accolade recognises ecancer’s role in the development of online educational materials for cancer professionals. ecancer publishes the latest cancer research incorporating social networking tools and blogs. The site also hosts a comprehensive collection of video interviews, webcasts and roundtable discussions to support oncologist’s training and education.

Prof Gordon McVie, Managing Editor of ecancermedicalscience commented,

‘As a medical oncologist I think it is really important that professionals have easy access to quality educational materials. I believe ecancer is delivering gold standard content and is leading the way for cancer communication in Europe’.

The inaugural Digital Media Awards celebrated the very best in digital media solutions within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries. This years winners were selected from 130 entries and ecancer beat off competition from other well established websites. The team was formally honoured at an awards dinner on 1st October 2009 in London overseen by former Labour party spin-doctor Alastair Campbell.

ecancer is a not for profit journal with all of the material free to access. ecancer is supported by a number of charities including ECCO (The European CanCer Organisation), The Umberto Veronesi Foundation, The Fondazione IEO and Swiss Bridge.
